E.R. Visits On the Rise for Chest & Abdominal Pain

While you might think that the number of emergency room visits has risen of late due to the recession and lack of medical insurance, in this particular case that would only be a fraction of the cause. The recession, and its lack of jobs and insurance, has hit Americans particularly hard, but can only be blamed for the last few years, whereas the new study release this morning by the National Center for Health Statistics shows a steady increase from 1999-2008 in E.R. visits for abdominal, chest and non-injury medical issues.
