Today, the full Senate begins debating Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court, with a final confirmation vote expected before Congress adjourns for its August recess, CQ Today reports. Given that the Democrats hold the majority in the chamber and that Kagan has the support of at least five Republican senators, her confirmation is “all but assured,” according to CQ Today.
